GLRC’s philosophy for treating behavioral health needs is to support individuals and families in finding their unique path to healing, recognizing that no two individuals are the same. GLRC helps individuals and families by exploring a variety of approaches to discover what works best for them.

Individuals seeking adolescent mental health treatment may be eligible under the Minor Confidentiality Agreement to receive services without parental consent.

  • West End Suicide Prevention, a diverse group that created LIVE to encourage self-care and compassion in our communities

Your child's case will be reviewed, followed by an appointment to access the appropriate services.

Step Three

Following the initial appointment, treatment begins with services tailored to your child’s individual needs.

Adolescent Outpatient Services

Adolescent Outpatient Services provide specialized care for children and adolescents experiencing mental health, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Clinicians are trained in the treatment of childhood trauma and hold specialized training and certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Intergenerational Trauma and Neurodevelopmental Trauma, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Many clinicians also hold the Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor designation.

Individuals aged 14 and older who are seeking mental health treatment may be eligible under the Minor Confidentiality Agreement to receive services without parental consent for a limited period of time.

Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Specialty Clinic

Great Lakes Recovery Centers (GLRC) established this clinic to address the unmet need for psychiatric and specialized mental health services for children and families. We provide a full continuum of care, including psychiatric services, comprehensive assessment and treatment, and clinicians trained in trauma, child development, and family systems.

Who We Serve
Children and adolescents (ages 5–24) experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns who need psychiatric care and are unable to access these services through other systems.

Our Approach
Clients are seen by a Family Nurse Practitioner under the supervision of a licensed psychiatrist, ensuring coordinated and comprehensive care.

Services Include:

  • Psychiatric evaluations
  • Medication management
  • Psychiatric consultations
  • Parent education
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Individual and play therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Care coordination with community providers
  • Family systems approach

The Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Specialty Clinic is located in GLRC’s Negaunee Integrated Care Clinic. Referral for services can be made by contacting the Access Center at (906) 228-9696.

Adolescent Services Center

GLRC’s Adolescent Services Center is a residential treatment facility for adolescent youth with Substance Use Disorder. 

Clients reside in semi-private rooms, participate in many hours of therapy each day and take part in on-site schooling.
