what are the tax benefits?
Besides quality environmental journalism, you can start with a federal tax deduction. The Environment Report is a non-profit organization based at Michigan Radio-a department of the University of Michigan. Because of the University's 501 (c) 3 tax status, any donation you make is fully tax-deductible. For Michigan residents, those tax benefits are even greater! Gifts to public broadcasting (up to $400 if filing jointly) can be returned to you in the form of a direct tax credit on your state income tax. Not a tax deduction, but a tax credit---50% of your donation goes right back towards your bottom line!
